Barwon Heads Art Show returns for 25th installment
LOCAL artists will have their works on display for the long weekend as the annual art show, hosted by the Barwon Heads Art Group, returns for its 25th year.
The art group’s convenor Dorothy Van Dorp said there’s a variety of paintings of all different sizes and shapes, as well as hand painted cards on offer.
“Paintings of the water are the most popular because of the area we’re in but there’s also flowers, a bit of everything.”
Within the art group there’s 23 members, with the majority of them displaying their artworks within the show.
“The overall highlight of all us artists, some being senior citizens it’s a mixed age group, is just showing their work, everyone is so proud of their work and just showing it to the community.”
Through the art show, the group hopes more members of the community will gain an understanding of who they are and what they do, with the option of heading along and joining them.
Ms Van Drop said they’re proud the art show is still part of the community after
25 years.
“Our art show is just very, very successful and that’s just because all the girls are there every day as monitors, they’re all good, they talk, they chat, it’s just a great atmosphere.”
The Barwon Heads Art Group invite everybody to come along for the event and enjoy the show, with this year’s event again running as part of the Bellarine Arts Trail.
Ms Van Drop encourages everyone to head along and ensure they include the stop on their map.
The show will kick off on November 1 and run until November 4, open from 10am until 4pm each day at the Barwon Heads Senior Citizens Club.
Entry into the show is free, however a gold coin donation would be appreciated.
