Barwon Heads to host free SUP session for girls
HUNDREDS of teenage girls will get a taste of the Coasting SUP Program this summer with Coasting SUP’s Summer Days come and try sessions happening around the state on the first day of summer – Sunday, December 1.
The Coasting program teaches girls the basics of standup paddleboarding to get them out on the water and more active this summer.
Sessions will be held in Barwon Heads (at the Barwon River), Ballarat, Inverloch and Brighton.
“As part of our Summer Dayze Program, we will be offering free taster sessions to all teenage girls on Sunday,” Coasting Program manager Monica Fleming said.
“We want to encourage as many girls as possible to get out on the water all on the same day and get a taste of how much fun SUP is.
“The Coasting Program is the only fully accredited female-specific SUP program in the state and is taught by instructors with years of experience. With heaps of prizes on offer throughout the day, it is a not to be missed event.”
The sessions will begin at 9am at each location and participants are encouraged to register before the day to avoid disappointment. Each participant will go in the draw to win a heap of prizes from Coasting partners.
Registration is now open via coastingsup.com/summerdayze.
Coasting SUP is an initiative of VicHealth and Surfing Victoria to encourage teenage girls to get more active. The program is supported by Fanatic SUP Boards, WSUP and Inverloch SUP.
