Basils in the business of community
Basils Farm is looking forward to welcoming guests to their Many Hands Bellarine Seaside Alfresco Lunch as part of the 2018 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival (MFWF) on Sunday March 18.
For the third year in a row, Basils Farm has been privileged to be included in the MFWF Program.
This year’s theme is “Community” and it’s something Basils Farm general manager Kim Dema is particularly proud of.
“Whether it’s our own produce grown from seedlings from The Paddock (Encompass), planted by a local farm management student, our food and wine has a connection to the local community,” Kim said.
“It’s a local loop, with sustainability at its heart, where you know who grows the produce or makes the product.
“In this lunch we pay homage to the many local hands that have worked together as a community to support one another. Whether that be educating the next generation, providing local employment, helping a local business prosper, or just getting to know your neighbour better, it’s celebrating the community we are a part of.”
The lunch features seasonal grazing platters, followed by a shared banquet of local delights, including Raven’s Creek pork, Bannockburn free range chicken, and Basils sides from the garden.
Dishes are matched to Basils Farm wild fermented wines. It’s a lunch with community at its heart.
Guests are also invited to enjoy a wine tasting and guided tour through the garden, whilst they take in the spectacular views across Swan Bay. Talented local musician Imogen Brough will also be performing between 12.30pm-3.30pm.
The cost of the lunch is $103, running from 11.30am-3.30pm.
