Bowen * Young to start tour in Geelong

Bowen * Young, the Nashville-based duo of Australian singer-songwriter and actor Clare Bowen and American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumental Brandon Robert Young, will start a national run of intimate acoustic shows with a gig in Geelong this Friday, January 12.

After a busy year that saw them release the first music from their coming debut album Us and tour extensively throughout the US and UK (including a Hyde Park date as a special guest of Billy Joel), Bowen * Young will open the tour at Geelong’s Barwon Club before heading to Melbourne, Castlemaine, Sydney, Newcastle, Tamworth, Bowen’s home town of Wollongong and finishing in Brisbane.

“I’m so excited to be coming back home for the first time in four years, to reconnect with all my fans in Australia and share this new music with them,” Bowen said.

“I can’t wait for this tour, to see all my friends and family and make some amazing memories with you on these shows.”

“Touring Australia with Clare has been some of my favorite moments playing music,” Young added.

“Since we first wrote these new songs together, we’ve been counting the days til the stars aligned for us to get back down under and share them with everyone. It’s going to be something special.”

Audiences can expect haunting and ethereal songs that masterfully delve into the depths of ferocious love, heartbreaking loss and steadfast hope, in a unique style of music the couple has dubbed “cinematic Americana”.

Serendipity brought the pair together in 2013, when Young was a last-minute replacement for Clare’s no-show duet partner for her first solo set at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

They immediately discovered they had wonderful chemistry both on stage and off, with Young proposing to Bowen at the Ryman Auditorium during the couple’s Grand Ole Opry set in 2015, and John Carter Cash presiding over the marriage at the Cash Cabin in 2017.

Acclaimed singer-songwriters Timothy James Bowen and Imogen Clark will perform at all shows as special guests.
