BUSINESS EXCELLENCE: Seeing deeper for better eye health
Local optometrist Kirsten Bolton lives on the Surf Coast and loves taking care of the eyes of her community.
Kirsten has been an optometrist for more than 20 years, and recently received an award from OPSM recognising a decade of eyecare service.
“Beyond prescribing glasses, I regularly remove foreign bodies from tradesmen’s eyes, prescribe antibiotic eye drops to manage infections, and care for diabetic patients collaboratively with local GPs,” she said.
Kirsten utilises advanced eyecare technology such as optical coherence tomography and ultra-widefield scanning laser ophthalmoscopy to ensure her patient’s eyes are entirely healthy.
These technologies allow intricate eye assessments to be made, within thousands of a millimetre, and often revealing detail that cannot be seen withthe naked eye.
“Being a practitioner at OPSM Waurn Ponds is fantastic,” she said.
“I enjoy practicing the full scope of my profession, with state-of-the-art equipment. As a team of optometrists, we are constantly developing together and enhancing the personalised examinations we provide to every one of our patients.”
Kirsten appreciates the importance of good vision, being a keen bird-watcher who loves native wildflowers.
She stays healthy with CrossFit and riding her new cyclo cross bike.
OPSM Waurn Ponds is located in the Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre. Eye checks are available every day.
