Theatre shows, comedy and live music one night, parties, functions and fundraisers the next, Geelong Arts Centre is a venue that wears many hats.

While Geelong Arts Centre may best be known as a vibrant cultural hub hosting world-class arts performances and experiences, the in-house events team at Geelong Arts Centre also know how to throw a good party.

Having recently marked the one-year anniversary of its newly redeveloped venues, Geelong Arts Centre’s award-winning spaces offer a place to celebrate going beyond the traditional event venue.

The beauty of the centre’s new spaces means they can be configured and adapted to suit a variety of different event types, ranging in size and scale.

The cutting-edge Story House theatre boasts up to 15 different seating and set-up options – including cocktail-style events for up to 400, while The Open House has 13 configuration options and can host up to 250 people. The centre also features five foyer spaces and four studio spaces.

Since re-opening last year, the team has hosted several amazing parties, from a Bridgerton-themed soiree complete with a string ensemble for 200 in The Open House, a cocktail event with roving performers on the stage of The Play House, and Barwon Health Foundation’s annual Catwalk for Cancer extravaganza in The Story House.

But it’s not just incredible spaces that make a great and memorable celebration.

Geelong Art Centre’s dedicated team, including an in-house food and beverage team, work collaboratively with event planners from start to finish to create inspired, unrivalled events that will dazzle guests and be the talk of the town long after they’ve ended.

“We are an arts Centre, and our in-house event and technical teams are creative and theatrical at heart,” director of production and presenter services Angelique Helman said.

“From lighting design to helping event planners source local musicians or roving entertainers, we are Geelong’s most experienced team of creative professionals and we’re passionate about creating memorable events.”
