Cruzing to the music on the coast
Local Ocean Grove talent Miguel Cruze, 28, has paid homage to his roots in his first music video along the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula.
A lawyer by day and musician by night, Miguel said he wanted showcase the region that has been so important to him growing up.
“It’s a story of mateship and good vibes with friends,” He said.
“I studied in the United States for a bit and I wanted to convey how our idea of ‘mates’ is a bit different here but the idea of friendship is global. Good friends are those you can go a while without talking to and when your back together it’s like time didn’t matter and you just bond over memories; you don’t need to say a lot, you just feel it.”
As a child, Miguel learned to play piano, leading him to play guitar and sing.
The music video will accompany his song “The Mate Shake”, which he has written the music and lyrics to himself.
“The track came to me over a couple of days, with the music video concept beginning in August last year,” Miguel said.
“I want to reach as many people as I can with this song. I don’t really have any plans to take it full-time or part-time, I’m just enjoying the journey.”
The music video is shot across Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, the Great Ocean Road and ending at Jack Rabbit Vineyard.
Miguel hopes to bring his music live to audiences later this year, after the production of a few more songs and a music video in Austin, Texas.
The song “The Mate Shake” can be found on Apple Music.
