Enrol to dance with confidence

Debbie Lee School of Dancing in Drysdale is home to dance on the Bellarine Peninsula, with more than 20 years of experience in the region.

Classes are held throughout the week for students to attend and express their enjoyment and love for dancing, music, singing and performing. It’s not focused on being the best competitive performer, rather to feel comfortable and gain confident to participate and dance to their personal best.

Debbie Lee believes being able to build self-confidence in students through the art of dance and music is a dance teacher’s reward.

“Indirectly through our weekly dance lessons together, students are learning skills for life,” she said.

“Positive self-image, team work, practice, patience, determination and etiquette are just a few of the things learnt through dance class.”

Classes are new each year and created to suit the personalities, ages, and styles of dance that enrolled students are interested in.

“Students enrol with the excitement to learn and to be a part of the performing arts. From this initial interest they will be encouraged and directed through their lessons to dance with confidence and enjoyment,” Debbie Lee said.

Each weekly lesson includes all styles of dance, including jazz, funk, contemporary, musical theatre and tap dancing. These classes are offered for students aged from four years to adult.

Morning classes are held for three-year-olds, which also involve all styles of dance including fairy ballet. break dancing and hip hop will also return for 2018.

Students from the Debbie Lee School of Dancing are involved in the Splashdance Festival Showcase held in July each year at Geelong Performing Arts Centre.

This year students will also participate in the Bellarine Dance Festival in May at the Potato Shed, Drysdale and finish the year with the annual concert, once again at Geelong Performing Arts Centre. Performing at these events is optional.
