Geelong band The Kite Machine will perform at the Barwon Club Hotel this Friday to celebrate the release of their new self-titled album. Formed in 2011 by frontman and guitarist Levi Anderson, the band has since evolved into a talented local trio comprising of Liam Brennan (bass) and Kane Sherriff (drums). The Kite Machine’s latest record features 10 tracks which each hero “explosive lyrics, complex time signatures and fuzzed up hooks”. Learn to paint with gouache at Geelong Illustrators studio gallery this Saturday in a fun, friendly and creative environment. The workshop will demonstrate to participants the technical skills in using gouache to create a nature illustration. Overseen by artist Mandy Dollery, all materials are supplied on the day. At the workshop’s conclusion, each rookie will take home their complete artwork.
SUNDAY 16/6 HOOPER RETURNS TO GEELONG
Killing Heidi frontwoman Ella Hooper will perform in the Aurora Spiegeltent this Sunday as a solo artist. Ella Hooper made her mark on the Australian music scene at age 13 when she won triple j’s unearthed competition which has seen her continue to write and create catchy pop ballads. Hooper has also spent time working as a radio host, TV presenter and DJ. Hooper’s one-hour show will see her showcase new tunes to her Geelong fanbase. General admission tickets are $38 per person.
