Footy legends in Lorne
Footy legends arrived in Lorne last weekend for the Lorne Football Netball Club celebrity entertainment night.
Big names Wayne Carey, Brian Taylor and Billy Brownless joined the Cats superstar Patrick Dangerfield at the Lorne Hotel on January 19 for a night of live auctions, music and dancing.
LFNC vice-president Ian Stewart said Mick Turner and Brian Taylor played a pivotal role in the evening’s success, which the club would struggle to exist financially without.
“It was a sell-out evening and that’s been the case over the past five years. Mick and Brian help put together the event making such an enormous contribution back to the community that they love and care about,” Mr Stewart said.
“Each year it’s the club’s major fundraiser, there’s nearly 200 people involved weekly during the season with footy and netball players and officials. That’s just under 20 per cent of Lorne’s permanent population which is just brilliant.”
