Heartache State and Lazy Bones to perform at bowlo
The Torquay Bowls Club continues its run of first class entertainment acts with The Heartache State scheduled to perform on July 21 with support act Lazy Bones.
Justin Garner and Nick Barker have been playing together on and off for 15 years – Nick producing Justin’s band Southpaw’s debut album and Justin playing on Nick’s last solo record.
The last 18 months have seen them hunched over acoustic guitars hammering a bunch of ideas into songs; Justin loves Aerosmith and the Allmans, Nick loves the Replacements and Neil Young. The self-titled album that resulted is a collision of their influences.
Adding long-time friend and collaborator “Venom” on drums and Michael Hubbard (Downhills Home, Eagle and the Worm) on bass, the boys deliver an unforgettable live performance.
Support act Lazy Bones’ sound is self-described as “born of the blues played from the soul”.
With Paul Carollo, guitars/vocals and Rusell Allan on drums, Lazy Bones stomp out their own brand of stripped back Surf Coast roots music; influences include R.L. Burnside, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion to name a couple.
The Heartache State’s second album, Last of the Buffalo, ventured deeper down the same road.
Tickets for the July 21 show are $20-25 and available to purchase online via trybooking.com/WFSW or at the bar.
