AUSTRALIAN comedy legend Pete Helliar will be bringing his always entertaining antics to Barwon Heads later this month.

The much-loved actor, television, radio presenter, writer, producer and director will be sweeping into the Barwon Heads Hotel for a special comedy night on November 20.

The 50-year-old burst onto the scene in the Melbourne comedy scene in the mid-1990s, performing at various venues and at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Helliar is best known for his work on television as a regular on The Project as well as his appearances on Rove and football program Before the Game where he created and played the character of Bryan “Strauchanie” Strauchan.

In 2017, Helliar was nominated for the Gold Logie, a prestigious award bestowed upon the person recognised as the Most Popular Personality on Television in Australia.

Most recently, the Australian funnyman has been a contestant on I’m a Celebrity..Get Me Out of Here!, Taskmaster Australia and the eighth season of The Amazing Race.

He said he was very excited to share his more than 30 years of the industry with audiences in Barwon Heads.

“Next year marks the 30th year of me doing comedy shows and I just thought it would be great to go through and do some new material and remember some older routines that I’ve reimagined.

“The show will change each night and to be honest, I’m not exactly sure what it will be in Barwon Heads, but I’ll be trying to make it as fresh as it can be for me.

“I grew up holidaying in Torquay and the Mornington Peninsula, so I’m very much looking forward to coming down that way and checking it out.”

Joining Helliar on stage will be fellow local comedians Luke Benson and Tyson Popplestone. For tickets, head to oztix.
