Help your child learn and improve with Kip McGrath

June 26, 2019 BY

Kip McGrath provides an individualised learning program consisting of a combination of reading, phonemics, spelling, comprehension, grammar, written expression and vocabulary development.

The Kip McGrath Literacy program is based around phonics reinforcement.

It caters for students who are virtual non-readers through to those who are having minor difficulties with their learning development.

The curriculum covers all aspects of English that students are expected to learn throughout their years at school. Research has shown that Phonemic Awareness is the single most powerful predictor of future reading ability in beginning readers.

Phonemic awareness is the ability to notice, think about, and work with the individual sounds in spoken words.

Recently the Education Minister Dan Tehan announced a plan to develop an online phonics check for Year 1 students to address substantial gaps in literacy achievement, declaring that no child should fall behind when learning to read.

“Learning how to read and write is fundamental to a quality education,” Mr Tehan said.

“Research over many years has shown phonics is the best way to teach basic literacy skills… one of our key priorities for this term of government is the rollout of a nationwide phonics health check for Year 1 students.”
