Australian surf rockers Hockey Dad are sure to be bringing the party vibes to the Barwon Heads Hotel tonight (Friday, May 16) as part of their huge 2025 Regional Tour.
The iconic two-piece will be playing some of their top hits as well as new material from 2024 album Rebuild, Repeat.
Hockey Dad has dominated the Australian music scene for the past 10 years, amassing three top 15 albums on the Australian ARIA Charts.
There 2020 album Brain Candy reached number two on the charts and was nominated for Best Record at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards.
Years before, Blend In had success of its own, crawling up to sixth on the ARIA Charts.
Three of the songs on the album also made the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2017-2018.
Lead guitarist and vocalist Zach Stephenson said Hockey Dad was fired up to bring some of their raw energy to Barwon Heads.
“We are excited, man; it should be a really fun weekend.
“I think we did a show with the Grogans down there a few years back and we had an awesome time.
“While we are down, we will try to get a few waves, play some golf and venture around the town.”
Stephenson said the most recent album Rebuild and Repeat differentiated a bit from some other Hockey Dad music, delivering a more softer and poppy side.
“It was a departure from some of our older stuff for sure.
“We’ve tried to simplify some of the songwriting styles we’ve been doing. It was super fun to record and we will be playing a fair bit of it at Barwon Heads.
“We’ve been changing up the sets a bit, a few older ones will be peppered in, and a bunch of new stuff. We are keen to play the ones we love.”
Stephenson said the band had high aspirations for the future, with some new tunes waiting in the wings.
“We will start releasing some of that later in the year, meanwhile we will play a few of these newer ones at the Barwon Heads Show.
“There’ll be also be more touring and more festivals.”
