Career women from across the Bellarine gathered at Queenscliff Marina’s new Business Hub to hear from three successful female entrepreneurs.

Those in attendance heard how Lorraine Golightly, Helen Butteriss and Kate Engler of BIG4 Beacon Resort Queenscliff, Bellarine Business Advisors and The Publicity Princess respectively, got started and went on to succeed running their own businesses.

MC and Tourism Greater Geelong’s Narelle Needham said the event was inspiring and provided fantastic insight to likeminded women.

“It was a great perspective from strong, professional women who know their stuff and how to go about building, growing and facilitating a successful business,” Ms Needham said.

“They were so inspiring and passionate and eclectic, their diversity had a really great impact on everybody.”

Ms Needham said the stories provided different insights with Helen starting her own business after working for someone else, Kate having operated her own business for a decade and Lorraine’s family business having a 46-year history.

Ms Needham said the feedback for the event was so positive that the Business Hub is now planning a suite of ongoing events to help women in business learn extra skills, as well as networking events with local business operators so they can collaborate on projects.

Helen Butteriss is now working from the Business Hub, which offers affordable casual and permanent desk hire, private meeting rooms and state-of-the-art technology.
