Junior rangers return for the holidays

March 28, 2018 BY

Parks Victoria’s Junior Ranger Program is returning these school holidays, giving kids across the state fantastic opportunities to explore the best of Victoria’s outdoors.

With school holidays on the horizon so too is Parks Victoria’s Junior Ranger Program, a fantastic free nature-based curricular that gets kids outdoors.

Children between 6 and 12 years of age can undertake an array of outdoor activities and have fun in nature while exploring Victoria’s wonderful parks, wildlife and amazing natural and cultural heritage.

During the Autumn holidays running March 31 to April 15, there will be over 100 fun activities to take part in across Victoria.

Kids can spend the day with park rangers on a Minibeast Discovery, become Wildlife Detectives, get all fired up learning about bushfires, go beachcombing or get their feet wet at a Rockpool Ramble.

Parks Victoria Education and Interpretation Coordinator James Adams said these activities are designed to inspire curiosity.

“The variety of activities we run through the Junior Ranger program help teach kids about the natural world around them. It’s wonderful to see kids getting out of the lounge room to explore and enjoy Victoria’s beautiful parks,” he said.

“As part of Nature Play week during the Premier’s Active April, we’re partnering with the Kids in Nature Network to host Nature Treasure Hunts across Victoria on Friday April 13. Our parks are full of natural treasures and with a little help from us to get started, you’ll discover something new every time you explore.”

All activities are free, but bookings are essential – to book online go to juniorrangers.com.au and sign up to the Junior Ranger Mailing List to keep up with what’s happening.
