K rock duo add musical theatre to their skillset

April 4, 2018 BY

Second from left, Tom Lewis and second from right, Sarah Maree Cameron loved the chance to perform with the cast of Priscilla.

BRIGHT lights, costumes and show tunes triggered Geelong radio duo Tom and Sara Maree to go beyond the audience and join the cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert the musical.

After opening night at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre, K rock’s comical pair Tom and Sarah Maree were invited to join the dynamic performers to dance on stage.

Eager to turn a dream into reality the pair spent time convincing management they wouldn’t make fools of themselves as they brought scenes from the iconic film to life.

“We’d jump at the opportunity to get up there and douse our heads in glitter along with some of the cast,” co-host Sarah Maree said.

Tom said he had always got swept up when it came to musical theatre and often wondered if he’d missed his calling, despite not being able to sing.

“This is bucket list dream kind of stuff and if it happens I may quit my day job and join the theatre,” he said.

Determined as ever they joined Priscilla’s assistant dance captain Michelle Barr for some training ahead of their debut.

Decked out in stage makeup and costumes for their scene the duo danced alongside fellow cast and only remnants of glitter proof that dreams really do come true.
