Live music and silent movies

In a show that combines live jazz with the comedic legends of yesteryear, The Sounds of Silent is arriving to the Uniting Church Queenscliff on July 8.

Travel back to the heyday of silent movies and experience the films of comic icons Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, accompanied by a five-piece jazz ensemble.

Listen as they recreate the silent movie experience from the 1920s and ‘30s with improvised performances featuring fun, familiar and popular music in the style of the period; the result is a vibrant and entertaining musical and movie event for the whole family.

The Jazz ensemble features Martin Zakharov (musical director – saxophone, clarinet and flute), Roby Corelli (drums and percussion), Damien Maughan (trumpet), Andrew Hammon (trombone) and Rod Wilson (keyboards).

Having recently returned from a sellout regional tour of Victoria, The Sounds of Silent have just released their first album Playing Around and will perform as part of the Queenscliff Lowlight Festival.

They have performed at numerous festivals and cinemas around the country including Taste of Tasmania, Adelaide Fringe, Apollo Bay Music Festival and the Bendigo Blues & Roots Festival.

Tickets include a generous warm winter meal of soup, nibbles and pudding at interval with a wine bar available, the show is suitable for all ages.
