McHappy Day draws a crowd

November 16, 2017 BY

The annual McHappy Day was held around Australia lon Saturday to raise money for McDonald’s charity, the Ronald McDonald House.

McHappy Day is one of the largest national fundraisers for Ronald McDonald House and has been running for over 25 years. Last year, more than $3.95m was raised to support families of seriously ill children.

Torquay McDonalds hosted their own McHappy Day activities with kids colouringin, face painting, live music, raffles and a visit from the local CFA crew.

From every Big Mac purchased, $2 was donated to the Ronald McDonald House or customers could donate to the many donation tins around the venue.

This year’s theme for Mcdonald’s Torquay was Lego, with decorations of Lego characters filling the walls and balloons in specific Lego colours, while colouring-in pictures also allowed kids to get creative with their own Lego characters.

Live entertainment during the lunch hour from 12.30pm-1.30pm was performed by local duo Lash78.

The Torquay CFA crew let children explore their vehicle and ask questions about what it’s like to fight fires.
