MUSIC LOVERS across the region will have the opportunity to experience the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra live next week.
The performance, hosted by the Geelong Chamber Music Society with the support of Regional Arts Victoria, will feature new and loved works.
Keyboard musician Donald Nicolson will lead the orchestra from the harpsichord, alongside well known talent Sophie Rowell and Geelong’s own Emma Sullivan.
Geelong Chamber Music Society committee member Judith Trimble said the audience is dragged straight into the music.
“We’re bringing new music as well as some traditional favourites like the Corelli and the combination [of] the program is really delightful.
“It’s really good for young music students and people in Geelong to be able to enjoy these young players, it gives young students something to aim at.”
Modern works within the performance will include a piece written by Colin Brumby and a collaboration with Melody Eötvös
Ms Trimble is hoping people will walk away from the performance with a new experience and learnt some new music.
“I’m hoping that they’ll not only enjoy the loved works that chamber music is famous for and beautifully played, they will also have the enthusiasm of young players and the leading musicians.
“This is a tried and tested and celebrated group, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and they bring the very best to Geelong.”
The coming show will be the last of the series of five chamber music concerts for the society this year.
Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will perform at Sacred Heart College’s McAuley Hall on Friday, November 21.
