The wait is over for groovy movers, pirate wannabes and Mik Mak fans of all ages, who are rejoicing with the release of the group’s fourth album.

The Geelong-based family band of children’s entertainers have put out Songs to Help Us Grow – a collection of all-new songs.

Released in mid-February, Songs to Help us Grow was written, recorded and produced in Geelong.

The album follows the band’s self-titled debut in 2013, Working on the Farm in 2015 and Play in 2019.

Songs to Help Us Grow was released in February.

“We’re beyond excited to finally share our labour of love with our little fans,” frontman and blue Mik Mak Joel McInnes said.

“I think we’ve created a well-blended mixture of original songs that kids and parents are going to relate to instantly.

“We explore themes such as celebrating differences, engaging in creative-play and overcoming fears and anxieties about returning to school or kindergarten.

“Feature songs include titles such as ‘Different but the Same’ and ‘Back to School’.”

Orange Mik Mak Al McInnes said Songs to Help Us Grow was an album that has seen the Mik Maks “go back to our Aussie country rock roots”.

“There’s plenty of driving acoustic guitar, singalong choruses and laid-back Drums the Panda beats that the whole family will love.

“The album is sprinkled with positive messages and stories that kids and parents can discover in their own time.”

The new album is also the first for the newest member of the band, Ava (Joel’s daughter).

Since joining the group at the age of 13, Ava has performed more than 100 shows and has co-written several of the new songs.

The Mik Maks say they are dedicating their new album to their thousands of little fans across the globe, and also want to acknowledge the “creative passion and genius” of co-writer and album producer Marc Collis.

Songs to Help us Grow is available on all major music streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music as well as through the band’s website.
