Missing Pinky launched in Torquay

December 12, 2017 BY

A CHARMING children’s story about a missing blanket was officially shared with the world at an event at Torquay last week.

Missing Pinky, written by Teesdale author Juliet Williams and illustrated by Surf Coast resident Luisa Gioffre-Suzuki, celebrated its first day of publication with a reading by the author on Thursday at Torquay Library, with children bringing along their own special blankets and teddies.

It tells the story of Lucy’s beloved blanket, Pinky – made by her grandma – that goes missing.

Lucy is desperate to find Pinky, so she looks in all the usual places and then in some more unusual places.

It is Williams’ second book (her first with Gioffree-Suzuki), and she said the story was based on the real-life experience of her daughter losing something precious – although the missing item in that case was a pink onesie, not a blanket.

She said she wrote Missing Pinky about five years ago but had only been able to find a publisher in recent months.

Published by IP Kidz, Missing Pinky is available now in both hard copy and electronic versions.
