TICKET sales for Missy Higgins’ Australian tour are running hot, and the singer-songwriter has just announced she is coming to Geelong.

There has been huge ticket demand nationwide with 38 sold-out shows to date for The Second Act Tour, and Frontier Touring revealed today (Tuesday, May 21) Higgins had added an extra Victorian show, which will be held at Geelong’s Costa Hall on August 4.

The now 39-date “anniversary tour with a difference” is touring the country to rave reviews, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Higgins’ landmark debut album The Sound of White, performed in its entirety for the first time ever plus a preview performance of songs from the new album The Second Act.

The Sound of White is one of the most influential albums in Australian music history. Featuring songs such as “Scar”, “Ten Days” and “The Special Two”, it has sold a million copies and won six ARIA Awards, and also inspired a generation of young Australian musicians including Amy Shark, Gretta Ray, Gordi and Angie McMahon to sing their own songs in their own ways.

“I wrote all those songs in my late teens when I never thought anyone would hear them, so they were very personal, like I was writing my secrets in a diary,” Higgins said.

“I did less of that on later albums for lots of reasons but lately I realised I’d gone back to that confessional mode of songwriting. I guess it’s been my way of dealing with the end of my marriage.

“So I feel like I’ve come full circle… I was starting life from scratch at 20 and now, like lots of people, I’m figuring out how to start life all over again at 40.”

Higgins produced, engineered and recorded The Second Act herself in her own home.

The new album, featuring the singles “You Should Run” and “The Second Act”, will be released on September 6 via EMI Music Australia.

The Frontier Member presale for the Geelong show begins this Thursday, May 23 from 11am before tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, May 27 from 11am.
