Doubling as a bookstore and a vinyl record stockist, Ocean Grove’s favourite nook bookgrove is celebrating National Record Store Day (RSD) on April 13 with live music and a children’s author event.

Local award-winning singer songwriter Andrea Robertson kicks off festivities at 11am, the popular songstress is well known in the music scene having worked with industry greats Chris Wilson and Sarah Carroll for her first album It’s About Time in 2014.

With soulful vocals that fuse together blues, roots, folk and country with a touch of rock, bookgrove owner Stacey Moore said she was a perfect musician to help celebrate RSD.

“It is the biggest vinyl record selling day in the world and I am hoping people who may only purchase a record as a gift, or special occasion, come out on RSD and show their support for the music industry it its most listenable format,” she said.

“If they come in the morning, they can peruse the vinyl selection whilst listening to local singer songwriter, Andrea Robertson. I have ordered in another stack of records from all their known labels set to arrive just in time for next Saturday, so the shelves will be overflowing with choice.”

Then at 2pm the afternoon’s children’s author kicks off with Australian comedian Andrew Hansen off The Chaser, Stacey said he’ll be discussing the book series alongside his wife and illustrator Jessica Roberts.

“The book series they have co-worked on (aimed at all children aged 7-11) Bab Sharkey and the Animal Mummies, are fantastic.”

Both events are free with people welcome to turn up on the day or book via Eventbrite, on any of bookgrove’s socials or by phoning 5255 5973.
