Neighbourhood Centre set for first relay

October 20, 2017 BY

“RELAY For Life is all about us as a community coming together to support such a worthwhile cause”, Kim Kosta from Ocean Grove Neighbourhood Centre says.

Ms Kosta will join fellow staff, along with members from the centre as they take part in their first Relay for Life Bellarine at Leopold Primary School on October 28 and October 29.

“On Friday nights we have between 40 and 60 kids attend a youth drop-in, so they are all going to come to sleep over and walk the night shift – they are all between 12 and 17,” she said. “The kids are busy making banners for the event.”

Ms Kosta, who has taken part in the event personally about five times before, said the team had raised about $1,000 already, which they hoped to double.

She said she was looking forward to the move from Collendina Recreation Reserve to Leopold Primary School and joked that there would be less chance of flooding.

She invited anyone who did not want to start their own team, but who still wanted to take part, to come and join their team.
