After 15 unforgettable summers under the stars, Nightjar is returning in 2026 with a bold new vision: Nightjar – The Summer Series.

Long known for its balmy nights, live music, artisan markets and laid-back Surf Coast spirit, the beloved festival is evolving into a two-week celebration of music, art, culture, and health – running from sunrise to late night across a series of curated events.

Each event is designed to connect the community, inspire creativity, and keep the soul of Old Torquay alive.

This next chapter is being led by Nightjar founder Lyndelle Flintoft, alongside new creative director Emily Hazell – a local changemaker and the founder of Melbourne’s renowned Serotonin Eatery.

Emily brings her expertise in wellness, placemaking, and community-building to reimagine Nightjar for a new generation.

“This year’s Nightjar isn’t just a festival – it’s a way of life,” Emily said.

“It’s about deepening connection, celebrating creativity, and building something that reflects the values of our community: inclusivity, sustainability, and heart.”

Introducing the Summer Series, now kicking off in the last week of December 2025, Nightjar, will unfold across multiple themed days and nights, each one curated with intention.

The Summer Series begins on December 29, kicking off with the big thrift market from 1pm until 9pm, featuring a retro revival of vintage gems, local fashion and sustainable finds, before the series comes to an end on Sunday, January 11.

Headlined by Nightjar Festival on Friday, January 2 and January 9, the iconic music, food and market night returns, bigger than ever, stay tuned for the lineup.

New to the event is the Big Exhale, a futuristic and thought-provoking health day to ground, align and reset for the year ahead.

Mental Health Mornings will feature movement, connection, breath and the perfect way to start a summers day.

The Slow Lane event includes tiny homes, slow-cooked food, conscious brands and deeper conversations on how to look after the coast line.

An evening of dance and fun for the singles will also take place with the Big Date Night.

Stay tuned for the full lineup and series program to be unveiled later this year.

In a New Era for an Old Favourite, more than 50,000 people are expected to engage with the festival across the season.

For sponsors and partners, this is a rare opportunity to connect with a highly engaged, multigenerational audience who care about creativity, community and culture.

With the ongoing support of GORCAPA, Nightjar is now firmly planted on the annual major events calendar, sitting proudly alongside the Rip Curl Pro and Lorne Pier to Pub.

“We don’t build campaigns – we build culture, and events that bring communities together,” Lyndelle said.

“Every partnership is tailored and meaningful. We’re calling on values-aligned brands and businesses to join us in creating something iconic.”

The proudly female-led, locally owned company is now looking ahead with purpose. As Nightjar nestles back into its home on the Common, the team are focused on building a strong and sustainable future – one shaped by collaboration, creativity and connection.
