Nothing faulty about this farm life

October 25, 2017 BY

Basils Farm is looking forward to welcoming some small green thumbs into the garden over these school holidays for their Kids Gardening Workshop on Friday October 6.

During the gardening workshop, kids will learn about plants, how to make a ‘no dig’ veggie garden and get to plant some veggies in the garden from 11am-12pm.

As a special treat, participants will also have the opportunity to meet and feed the farm animals including chickens, ducks, baby doll sheep, and llamas Basil and Manuel.

The workshop includes a tasty light lunch from 12pm-1pm, take-home notes, and a goodie bag. The workshop is $35 per child and limited to 15 participants, aged 5-10 years.

Permaculture gardener Ben Shaw who will run the workshop advises parents to book in early

“Our last workshop was a sell out, so please book early to secure your spot. The kids really loved it and we can’t wait to welcome new budding gardeners to Basils Farm,” Ben said.

Basils Farm also received some great feedback from participants including, “all the kids were completely engaged the entire time and they were thrilled to make some new furry friends on the farm”.

Adults may wish to book into lunch at the cafe and enjoy the Basils Farm “Local’s Lunch” special for $30 per person including a glass of wine.

Basils Farm will also be offering their very popular “meet and feed the animals” sessions every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday throughout the School Holidays at 11.30am.

These free sessions run for approximately 30 minutes and are suitable for children aged 3-12 years. Children under five years require adult supervision.
