OGCC urges locals to apply for grants

OCEAN Grove Connected Communities (OGCC) is urging local groups and organisations to put up their hands for its next round of grants.

OGCC has injected more than half a million dollars into the local community since it began in 2008 – and local groups have until tomorrow (September 22) to submit applications for this year’s final round of grants.

Chair Jon Mamonski encouraged groups of all sizes to apply, with grants available ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars.

Already this year, OGCC has provided more than $20,000 to support a range of local projects, including $5,000 towards the highly successful Light of Day Winter Gigs raising funds and awareness for Parkinson’s Victoria.

The gigs took place across the weekend of July 21 and 22 at some of Ocean Grove’s foodie hotspots – the Piping Hot Chicken Shop, Olive Pit, Driftwood and Maggies Bar.

Artists included Michael Spiby from the Badloves, Big Bash Band, Steve McEwan & Yes Men, Dreamboogie, and many more.

Five other projects have received OGCC
funding this year:

• Mummas Connect received $1,710 to organise a series of seminars for parents.
• Ocean Grove Playgroup received $2,750 for its health and wellbeing program.
• OGAN received $5,000 to build storage infrastructure for events at the Ocean Grove Park
• 1st/2nd Scout Group Ocean Grove received $3,500 to provide fee relief for Cuboree 2017.
• Ocean Grove Barwon Heads Little Athletics

Club received $2,500 for coaching.

Ocean Grove Connected Communities raises money through a disbursement provided by the Bendigo Bank and its partners. Grants are administered twice a year.
