Outdoor experiences for the whole family these holidays
YMCA Anglesea’s School Holiday Program “Surf Coast Outdoor Adventure Kids”, or SOAK for short, is play-based and child-led.
Our program is run entirely outdoors, each morning we’ll meet at the camp fire and talk about our plans for the day. We’ll see where the adventure takes us and what we can find. What we see and what we discover each day will include a mixture of nature play, environmental and adventurous activities.
SOAK is running for six days over the Easter school holidays on weekdays on April 8-10, and also April 16-18. Our focus is to get kids 6-12 years outdoors having a different adventure each day with a child focused unscheduled timeframe throughout the day. Our day with include a selection of cubby building, tree climbing, mud play, build your own zip line, nature craft, bush cooking, mountain bike riding, yabby netting, low ropes course, skate boarding, raft building, rock pool ramble, beach play, estuary discovery, kitchen garden, canoeing plus loads more outdoor fun.
Our Nature Play team is also hosting a Family Playgroup Adventure on April 11, this is a great one-off event for the whole family to connect with each other and spend time outdoors. We provide naturebased craft and fire cooking activity during the session. Our single sessions are a great introduction to our term based Early Years programs. Our YMCA Kids Go Bush Team runs Bush Playgroup on Monday and Tuesday mornings and Bush Kinder for kinder kids aged three and up on Friday mornings.
In addition to our Day Camps and Nature Play programs, the team from SOAK are looking forward to again supporting KAOS on April 13-14, in the school Holidays. KAOS is Kids Adventure Outdoors, a festival celebrating fun and adventure.
