Pond to drop into Barwon Heads
Australian psychedelic rockers Pond will be bringing their high energy to the Barwon Heads Hotel next month.
The Perth band will be playing all their top hits and some of their new tunes on March 21 as part of their regional tour.
Founded in 2008 by trio Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson and Joe Ryan, Pond is well known for their electrifying live performances.

The band was named NME’s The Hottest New Band in the World in 2012 and has long been associated with Tame Impala, with members of both groups – including Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker – working together on musical projects over the years.
Pond’s most recent album, Stung! which was released last year, dives into playful songwriting, sound tinkering and workshopping.
Allbrook, the quintet’s frontman, said the band couldn’t wait to get down to Barwon Heads.
“It’s so fun playing these smaller towns. It feels well within our comfort zone, especially in summer.
“Trundling around the coast in your shorts and playing the occasional sweaty pub gig between swims and parmis. It’s kinda the dream.”
Allbrook said the band hadn’t heard too much about Barwon Heads but felt a natural order of things was in place in the town.
“There’s salt in the air and AFL in the pubs.”
Fans can expect a mixed bag of songs from Pond’s repertoire including hits Paint Me Silver and Daisy, as well as tunes from Stung!, the band’s 10th full-length release.
“Coupla newies, coupla oldies, Joe dressed like he’s just finished gyprocking and me potentially passing out from fluid loss on stage,” Allbrook quipped.
“You know, guitar histrionics and ass-kicking.”
Tickets for the show are available via Oztix.
