Queenscliff and Lonsdale Community Arts and Crafts Inc, better known as QAL Arts, is celebrating its 21st birthday this year, with 20 of those years located at the Queenscliff Uniting Church Hall.

Following an Arts Trail exhibition in 2003, local woodworker Robert Thomson saw the need for a local community co-operative of artists and crafts people to display and sell their work. 11 local artists from Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale responded to the call, and the group known as QAL Arts was incorporated and commenced displaying and selling their items in the St George’s Old School Hall on the last weekend of each month.

In 2004 QAL relocated to the Uniting Church Hall in Hesse Street Queenscliff, holding exhibitions and sales.

This year, the group celebrate 20 years of operation in this location and are a monthly fixture in the beautiful township of Queenscliff. They also open on special occasions, which includes the Bellarine Arts Trail.

The artists are all based on the Bellarine Peninsula with their works often reflecting the region.

The QAL artists are all located on the Bellarine Peninsula, and this is often reflected in their art.

Their items are beautifully crafted and reasonably priced with a selection of oil, watercolour, mixed media paintings, mosaics, textiles, woodwork, furniture, jewellery and more.

QAL Arts is just the place to find that special hand-crafted treasure to keep or gift.

Include stop 35 on the Arts Trail map when planning your Arts Trail adventure, and you won’t be disappointed.

Happy 21st birthday, QAL!
