IT’S ABOUT TO RAIN GOLF BALLS IN TORQUAY

January 30, 2018 BY

Some of Torquay’s sporting clubs are teaming up again to present another free day of family entertainment to help raise money to improve their facilities.

The “Tiger Drop”, organised by the Torquay football, cricket and netball clubs, will be held at Spring Creek Reserve on February 25.

Last year, was the inaugural running of the Tiger Drop, with this year set to be bigger with more entertainment and activities for the whole family.

A golf flag will be set up in the middle of the oval and tickets will be sold for each of the 1,000 golf balls to be dropped from a helicopter hovering above the flag.

The three closest balls to the flag will win the prizes of $15,000, $3,500 and $1,000 respectively.

Torquay Football Club committee member Tim Carson hoped to see many families enjoying the day together, with a variety of live music, kids’ activities and food stalls on offer.

“It’s one of our biggest fundraisers for all three clubs,” he said.

“We want to update our scoreboards, and the netball club is in the process of applying for tenders for their new clubrooms.”

As well as the Tiger Drop, the day will also feature performances from four live bands – The Australian Queen Tribute Show, The Bieber Experience, The INXS Tribute Show and popular local cover band Test Pilot Molly.

There will also be jumping castles, children’s activities and more. Food stalls will be available and drinks will be at bar prices.

Proceeds from the event will be split equally between the football, netball and cricket clubs.

The event will be held at Spring Creek Reserve on February 25 from 1-6pm.

Tickets for the Tiger Drop are $100 and are still available.
