Shakespeare in the Vines turns nine
In celebration of its ninth year hosting Shakespeare in the Vines, Leura Park Estate will transform into the historic Greek capital of Athens across two nights of mystical enchantment on February 15 and February 16.
This year, the renowned Essential Theatre Company will present Shakespeare’s world famous romantic comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Director of Leura Park Estate Lyndsay Sharp said after hosting sold-out Shakespeare in the Vines events since 2011, the winery was excited to see such a special production come to life over two nights.
“This year we will again be staging the performance within the barrel shed and winery enclave, which ensures weather protection for patrons while featuring a terrific working winery ambience amidst a backdrop of vineyard, barrels, dams and undulating paddocks,” Ms Sharp said.
“There will be a range of on-site food options on the nights to suit all budgets and tastes. Wine, beer and cider will also be available for purchase before and after the performance.
“Post-performance, there will be live music until late on both nights where guests get to meet and mingle with the cast – it’s definitely shaping up to be a magical couple of nights.”
Having entertained Australian crowds performing Shakespeare plays for the past 16 years, Essential Theatre is gearing up to offer audiences a clever and entertaining interpretation of the legendary poet’s 15th-century script.
Gates open at 5pm, with the performance starting at 7pm on both evenings.
Tickets are $45pp and are available via GPAC (50 Little Malop Street, Geelong) or gpac.org.au. Leura Park Estate is located at 1,400 Portarlington Road, Curlewis.
