Shakespeare plays on in the vines at Leura Park
Celebrating 16 years of Shakespeare in the Vines, the highly acclaimed Essential Theatre will be staging one of the Bard’s most loved works, Twelfth Night at Leura Park Estate over two nights, Friday February 9 and Saturday February 10.
Twelfth Night is a hilarious, romantic tale of mischief and adventure – hearts are tangled, pranks are played, nobody is quite what they seem.
Twins, Viola and Sebastian have been shipwrecked off the Illyrian coast and both believe the other to be drowned.
Distressed and alone Viola disguises herself as a man, taking on the name of ‘Cesario’, and goes to work at the court of Duke Orsino.
Filled with a cast of unforgettable characters, Twelfth Night combines high comedy with cruelty and the pangs of unrequited love with some of the subtlest poetry and most exquisite songs Shakespeare ever wrote.
Will love be requited? Will twins be reunited?
Join Leura Park for this hilarious tale under the setting sun, as the estate transforms into the magical land of Illyria to provide a stunning backdrop for this colourful and timeless comedy.
Visitors of the annual Shakespeare in the Vines at Leura Park Estate are guaranteed a very special night to remember.
Show starts at 7pm with gates opening at 5pm. Seating is provided so there’s no need to worry about arriving unnecessarily early.
