Simply Brill at the Geelong Arts Centre
Simply Brill is coming to the Geelong Arts Centre as part of its Delightful Days and Matinees program.
Amelia Ryan, Michaela Burger and Michael Griffiths will take the stage, with the performance being a celebration of the songwriters who transformed rock n roll in the 1960s.
The story begins in downtown New York City and has a blend of history, humour, and heart as the performers relive some the 20th century’s most popular songs.
The 70-minute performance explores how one building redefined the musical landscape and how previously unheard-of teenagers stole rock n roll, creating hits that were sung around the globe.
The three vocalists are accompanied by a live five-piece band and will feature music from songwriters including Bill Hayley and The Comets, Bobby Darin, Ellie Greenwich and more.
As part of the program the Geelong Arts Centre will host a number of performances for all ages during the day which will run until December.
“Our Delightful Days and Matinees program exists to craft moments of joy and connection for Geelong’s daytime theatre lovers,” Geelong Arts Centre head of programming Penny McCabe said.
“Bringing professional calibre performances to daytime audiences underscores our dedication to accessibility and ensuring the arts are enjoyed by all.”
Simply Brill will play on April 17 at The Play House in Little Malop Street at 11am.
Theatre goers are encouraged to arrive at 9:30am to enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and morning tea.
