SNOW COMPANY BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN MOUNTAIN and STREET

Some examples of Yuki Threads products, all available at Blunt Skateboarding and Snow Co

Yuki Threads was founded in 2010 amid back-to-back snow seasons between Mt Buller and Japan.

Their vision was to create a 100 per cent Australian-owned snow apparel company that bridged the gap between the mountain and street that genuinely cared about their customers.

Those days of working out of staff accomms are passed and Yuki Threads are stoked to now call Torquay home.

Since these grass roots beginnings, Yuki Threads has remained true to our core
values.

“We’re passionate about enjoying life and are committed to making the highest quality apparel, accessories and outerwear for our customers, who are the reason and inspiration for everything we do,” Luke Mitchell from Yuki Threads said.

“We have grown and learned through this process as it evolved.

“We have learned that there is much more to think about than just our customers or our products.

“Over the past couple of years we’ve been intensively examining our supply chain, manufacturing processes and overall impact of our business socially and environmentally.

“We have been taking action and implementing some great changes.

“Winter 2018 will see the release of our second 100 per cent fairtrade certified apparel range with 75 per cent of this being GOTS certified.

“Our outerwear range will only have Bluesign certified recycled outer shell with recycled polyester fills and the use of Scafe fabrics – using recycled polyester bonded with recycled coffee grounds to replicate properties of natural fabrics such as sweat wicking and odour controlling properties.

“On top of this we are 1 per cent For The Planet and POW (Protect Our Winters) partners.

“We have realised that we – companies and consumers – have been far too irresponsible in our practices for far too long. We are in this together and together as companies and consumers we need to implement some positive change.”
