Students can be Spectacular on Stage
Auditions for next year’s Victorian State Schools Spectacular will soon get under way with registrations now open.
Minister for Education James Merlino is encouraging schools and students to apply, saying it was a unique opportunity for them to showcase their talent and become involved in one of Australia’s biggest annual productions.
“The Spectacular is one of those fantastic events that is not only enormous fun but unites government school communities by working towards common goals.
“It is shown to boost student motivation, build their confidence, leadership skills and cooperation, as well as providing an environment where they forge friendships and feel a sense of belonging.”
Next year’s show will be held at Hisense Arena on September 15 to an audience of more than 10,000 people. It will also be filmed for television and broadcast in a prime-time slot at a later date.
The annual Spectacular brings together about 3,000 Victorian students from Prep to Year 12 at more than 200 schools.
Students will have the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s best-known industry professionals across all creative disciplines.
Individual students can register to audition for main vocals, dance and the orchestra at the Performing Arts Unit in Collingwood or they can submit a video audition.
Schools can register an expression of interest to participate in the mass choir or dance groups, or to nominate a specialty group. School expressions of interest close on November 10.
Students can participate both on stage and behind the scenes on audio, lighting and video production, stage management, costume and film, make-up, photography, and marketing and publicity.
