Swashbuckling fun returns to GPAC

Former Young Talent Time and West End performer Philip Gould is set for a swashbuckling return to The Playhouse stage in a hilarious production of Pirates of Penzance.

This unique version of the classic Gilbert and Sullivan musical comes to Geelong Performing Arts Centre as part of the Musical Mornings program for two performances only, at 10.30am on February 28 and March 1.

This fast-paced and beautifully sung production is the full show, set and costumes, performed with a cast of only six.

Promac Productions is celebrating the 21st Anniversary (and final) tour of Pirates of Penzance this year. Patrons are warned that the 2018 version “contains nuts and Donald Trump additives”.

The stellar cast includes Gould as the Pirate King, veteran comic baritone Brian Hannan as the Major General and Police Sergeant, international Soprano Alison Jones as Mabel, Opera Australia mezzo soprano Caroline Vercoe as Ruth, Chris McKenna as Frederic and Dominic Woodhead as the Musical Director on piano.

Hit songs include “I Am The Pirate King”, “Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One”, “Cat Like Tread” and “Poor Wandering One”.
