The teacher appears: new path opens for wisdom lovers
A NEW philosophical group will seek to provide insight and answers to some of life’s great questions.
Spearheaded by local resident Michael Bohuslav, the group will meet every Thursday night at the Torquay Community House to offer wisdom and guidance for those seeking it.
“I’m involved with a few groups but they run during the day time. I began to get a lot of feedback from people wanting to attend the sessions but they worked so were unable to get there,” Mr Bohuslav said.
“I got a sense that there’s a great community interest now surrounding philosophy, all the work I do is voluntary – I just love the subject. It’s had a huge impact on my life over the years and the people I’ve worked with have indicated the same.
“We discuss over active minds and getting too emotional one way or the other, be it anger or stress. When we understand why we tick we can learn how to react and respond better, ultimately not to overreact and in turn, live more peaceful lives.”
Having studied and taught philosophical wisdom for the past 25 years across Melbourne, Geelong and Torquay, Mr Bohuslav is looking forward to providing a sense of direction.
“There are a lot of people searching for something but they are unsure what, they don’t know it but they’re looking for truth,” he said.
“Philosophical wisdom that has been accumulated over thousands of years.
“The only antidote for all human problems is philosophy – a love of truth and wisdom.
“By making wiser decisions based on truth we can lead happier lives.
“Very few people have found peace and happiness of mind by themselves, there’s a saying that goes ‘when the student is ready, the teacher appears’.
“Avail yourself this opportunity and attend these discussion evenings.”
No qualifications are necessary to attend, sessions start on April 19 and will run from 7-9pm. For more information, phone
