The Bellarine Community Support Register
Have you ever lost your house or car keys?
Have you had your purse or wallet dropped or stolen?
Have you been locked out of a family member’s house knowing that they are inside but unable to get to the door?
Do you worry at times about your loved ones living alone so far away?
If so, then think of going about your day, firm in the knowledge that there are local services working together caring for your safety and security and for those you love. That’s the peace of mind offered by the Bellarine Community Support Register (BCSR).
It is a confidential database of personal, property, medical and emergency contact information that is available to police in case of emergency.
The Bellarine Community Support Register is inviting Bellarine residents to come along to an Information Session at the Bellarine Training and Community Hub (BTACH) to hear from local services about the benefits of being part of the Register
These include:
- An identification wallet or phone card with a unique number in case of a medical incident or accident where emergency contacts or other personal information are needed• A keyring identification tag with the same unique number to return lost keys
- A window sticker to inform visitors the property is registered with the Bellarine Police so that house access can easily be arranged through the police if required, and calls from volunteers to registrants who request them to check on the wellbeing of the resident and on occasions for a general chat.
- If a person does not answer the phone after three attempts on the same day, and next of kin is unavailable, Bellarine Police will undertake a welfare check to determine the health status of the registrant.
The information sessions will be held at BTACH, 1 Dory Drive, Ocean Grove on August 7 at 11am.
