The Kings of Christmas are coming to Geelong
For the first time, the stars of Channel 9’s Carols By Candlelight, Rob Mills and Bobby Fox, are bringing their trademark cheer, charm, cheek and classic Christmas songs to Geelong.
Rob and Bob are premiering their new show The Kings of Christmas at Costa Hall on December 18.
Joining the duo onstage with more Christmas magic will be the Little BIG Band and the Rockin’ Rob and Bobettes, with a special guest appearance from Denis Walter.
Mills and Fox said they were thrilled to be premiering their show in Geelong for the first time, as it was the perfect way to start the week before Christmas.
“We both love Geelong and have many happy memories here and we just thought this is the perfect spot to kick things off,” Fox said.
“And it’s exactly a week before Christmas. It’s just going to give people a little pep in their step to launch into that massive Christmas week.”
Mills said the show was perfect for families, with half-price tickets for under 18s and an early start time for those needing an early night.
“It’s really for eight to 80, this show,” Mills said.
“Over the past couple of years, we haven’t had much time to spend together with our friends and family, we really want this show to be the thing that brings people together.
“Christmas is the coming together of friends and family, it’s reconnecting and having those genuine conversations and telling people what they mean to you, is something we struggle to do as Australians.
“This is the one time of year you’ll be with your friends and family; tell them what they mean to you.”
Mills said the show would also be the perfect way to enjoy the Christmas spirit of cheer and joy, mixed in with upbeat songs, the longing for a white Christmas, and classic carols.
“You’ve seen the movie Elf and how much he loves Christmas, it’s like that; that amount of joy.” Mills said.
“Having that old-school song and dance kind of feel to it as well. It’s all the songs that we’ve been doing on Carols by Candlelight for the past few years, plus some of the songs that really resonate with Bob and I.”
Fox said the duo was particularly looking forward to bringing enthusiastic, cheery Christmas Spirit to the community.
“I think the highlight of this show will be our energy, and our Christmas joy. We have such a ball when we perform together.
“For us, we are really excited because this is the beginning of something really big and something that we want to be iconic with us that people look forward to every year, and that we build this trust with our audiences every year that they’ll look forward to seeing the Rob and Bob Christmas show with our special guests every year.”
The 75-minute show will begin at 3pm on December 18 at Geelong’s Costa Hall.
