The Potato Shed’s winter lineup

WINTER is well and truly here, and what better way to keep warm and entertained than heading to the Potato Shed for the best shows on the Bellarine?

Women of Wit returns on July 13 with the funniest, laugh-out loud comedians touring national stages. Alex Ward (Have You Been Paying Attention?); Prue Blake (Melbourne International Comedy Festival); and Patti Fawcett (RAW Comedy winner 2021); join He Huang (Australia’s Got Talent) and a special local guest for a night guaranteed to tickle your funny bone.

Party-time ensues on July 20 when Yummy’s Joy Machine prances into the black box theatre for a night of outrageous, outlandish and always unpredictable cabaret. Arrive early to sip on a special one-off Yummy Joy Machine cocktail, before the ground-breaking new MC Milo Hartill and company kickstart the party, to signal the start of the show.

There are two terrific school holiday shows for the young and young at heart. CircArts’ The Time Travel Circus: Adventures Across the Ages on Wednesday July 3, will have you in thrall on their imaginative circus adventure. Resident theatre company Theatre 3triple2 return with their take on the Brothers Grimm classic, Rapunzel. July 9 to July 12, two shows daily.

Slap! Bang! Kiss! returns to the Potato Shed on August 1 at 11am and 1pm. On the VCE Drama Reading List for 2024, and shortlisted for the 2021 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards.

Melbourne songstress Leslie Martin pays tribute to The Queens of Country Music Show in her show at the Shed at 8pm on August 3. You can expect all the greatest hits from Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton, two enduring superstars of country music.

Then in a change of pace, HiT Productions present Some Enchanted Evening – the songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, 8pm August 10. Sing along to some of the biggest musical theatre songs from Carousel, The King and I, South Pacific and more.

Geelong historian Colin Mockett presents Made in Monserrat, The Potato Shed’s July Morning Showtime show on July 16. Made in Monserrat tells the story of the “fifth Beatle” George Martin and his Monserrat AIR Studio.

Then on August 6, Allan James brings his homage to all things skiffle with Does Your Chewing Gum Lose its Flavour? Songs The Beatles Gave Away highlights the incredible talent and generosity of one of the greats of pop music – September 10, presented by Adam Parsons. Featuring songs originally sung by Cilla Black; Gerry & the Pacemakers and Billy J. Kramer.
