Torquay’s Sadler king of stunts

The Whistleblower the largest Australian-Chinese official coproduction in Victoria’s history, has commenced the second round of filming in Geelong.

The film is being co-produced by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon producer Bill Kong and Greg Basser (Concussion, Goosebumps) and is expected to spend more than $40 million in Victoria’s economy, plus create more than 200 job opportunities for local screen workers.

The second round of filming features stunt actors, including stunt co-ordinator Warwick Sadler who lives in Torquay and major action scenes, including a car flip, truck crash and off-road pursuit which are currently being filmed in town. Filming has occurred daily (except for Sunday September 16) and will finish up Friday in Geelong on September 21 (tomorrow).

Several local Geelong streets were used for filming resulting in changed traffic conditions on Corio, Bellarine,
Swanston and Fitzroy streets, as well as Alexandra Avenue and Pevensey Crescent.

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Cr Bruce Harwood said the second round of filming is all about the stunt scenes.

“Locals will be able to watch some impressive action sequences over the next week. Keep an eye out for the movie’s crane – it will give you a good idea of where the action is unfolding,” Cr Harwood said.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to promote our clever and creative city as a filmmaking destination, and to open ourselves further to the arts and culture world.”
