Tuckers to host open day at Torquay office
Tucked away in central Walker Street, Torquay, Tuckers Funeral and Bereavement Service office offers a convenient yet discreet location for families on and surrounding the Surf Coast to meet.
The decision to create a contemporary and beautiful space was made in 2018 and was a significant milestone in Tuckers’ history.
“It took time, waiting for the right location and when we first saw the empty space, we knew it was the one,” funeral director and community relations manager Alyson Burchell said.
“The internal refurbishment of the space in Walker Street, Torquay in Davidsons Business Centre has given Tuckers a strong local presence with easy access and a relaxed feel and allows us to be more responsive to families in need,” funeral and business manager Michael Payne added.
Mr Payne enjoys working from the Torquay office. “It’s a great space to be. There is always someone walking past to say hello to and have chat, there is a wonderful community atmosphere on the Surf Coast,” he said.
Through caring for families across the region as well as supporting a wide range of service clubs and community groups, Tuckers has grown strong connections with the Surf Coast community.
“These associations are so important to the heart and culture of our business. We have long standing connections with a number of clubs including Torquay and Anglesea Bowls Clubs, Torquay Tigers and U3A Surf Coast,” Ms Burchell said.
On March 2 from 9am-12 noon, Tuckers will open its doors to the community. This is an informal opportunity to call in and talk with Tuckers staff, ask those questions you’ve always wondered about and dispel some myths.
For the car enthusiasts, Tuckers 1960 Ford Galaxy and the 1926 Chevrolet will both make guest appearances.
Staff will be available to answer any questions relating to pre-planning funerals and can explain the absolute importance of understanding the differences between, pre-paid funerals, funeral bonds and funeral insurance.
There may be people out there who are interested in a career in the funeral industry. This is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the different employment opportunities offered in the industry and the pathways to specific roles.
Bereavement care is an important pillar in Tuckers Service to all those experiencing loss. Tuckers’ bereavement care team ensures that families are well supported after the funeral and that families have the ability and supports to manage their grief journey. Bereavement care team leader Trudy Dellar and local resident and bereavement support worker Denise Marshall will be available on the morning to answer any questions regarding this important work.
There is no need to RSVP, Mr Payne and Ms Burchell said: “Call in and say hello!”
