Warm up with Shiraz this Winter

June 13, 2018 BY

The popular Bellbrae Estate Winery will be involved in the third annual Winter Shiraz Weekend this July 7-8 where wine lovers can enjoy the best food, wine and entertainment across the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula.

The Winter Shiraz Weekend on July 7-8 will combine the best food, wine and entertainment across the Geelong, Surf Coast, Moorabool Valley and Bellarine Peninsula.

This unique event gives revellers the chance to taste their way across an impressive range of wineries, and Wine Geelong president Scott Austin said patrons can “meet the makers” with some of the region’s most knowledgeable local vignerons heading the wine discovery.

“With wineries from all three of Geelong’s sub-regions taking part, patrons can tour as many as they like throughout the Surf Coast, Moorabool Valley and Bellarine Peninsula,” he said.

“Wineries throughout the region will offer guests the chance to soak up the warmth of open fires and outdoor braziers in their beautiful surroundings while showcasing their award-winning Shiraz. Several talented chefs will also match the region’s renowned cool climate wines with hearty winter fare.

“The 2018 program promises to be a feast of food and wine experiences, gourmet produce, local music and wine master classes. You’ll be tempted by so many of our wineries with something special on offer for everyone.”

Entry to participating wineries is free so patrons can look forward to purchasing bottles of their favourite Shiraz rather than tickets; popular wineries participating include Leura Park Estate, Terindah Estate, Yes Said the Seal, Baie Wines, Scotchman’s Hill and Jack Rabbit Vineyards.

Kicking off the festival will be a special Shiraz tasting on Friday evening July 6 from 5-7 at some of Geelong’s top retailers, who can assist patrons in planning their weekend.
