Kim Doherty produces unique hand-made textiles to wear, to furnish and to admire.

Kim is excited by textiles; by working with what are essentially ancient techniques, and giving them a contemporary spin.

It’s the tactile nature of textiles that has so much appeal.

Kim’s hand-woven fabrics are constructed from extremely fine luxury yarns, to produce her very lightweight signature multi award-winning scarves for men and women.

Using textile techniques such as weaving and knitting, and working with other materials such as wire, metal, found objects, and plastic, to produce art pieces is something that really excites Kim.

Perhaps it’s the more sculptural form achieved with these materials that is so interesting.

Most pieces are mixed media, as the way that various media interplay on the one surface is something she finds fascinating.

Kim also finds it interesting to work on a small scale to create art pieces to be worn, such as brooches and pendants.

Kim has made her hand screenprinted fabrics into cushions, and has had some of these designs, along with some original drawings, digitised for embroidery.

These embroidered designs adorn cushions, bags, velvet scarves, and clothing.

Along with practicality, Kim’s philosophy encompasses beauty and form, and accessibility for all.

She has a deep personal connection with every one of her pieces, and sees her work as defining your uniqueness as much as her own.

It’s a constant evolution as new ideas develop into finished pieces. The possibilities are endless
