Women in Business: Celebrating female excellence – Lisa Neville

June 27, 2018 BY

Bellarine MP Lisa Neville says there are many women in the Geelong region who are excelling at what they do.

I am very pleased and proud to support this Women in Business feature and congratulate Times News Group for the initiative.

It is important that the contribution of women not only in business but across community sector is recognised. Here on the Bellarine, and the wider Geelong region, there are many effective women who are excelling in the work that they do and the contribution they make.

Whether that be as a CEO of a major business organisation, principal of a local school or Manager of a community based organisation, and be assured there are numerous examples of each that I work with every day.

I am also very proud to be part of a state government that has implemented a Gender Equality Strategy. This strategy works to ensure everyone has access to equal opportunity and resources.

Under the strategy, a new government agency, Respect Victoria, has been established and is committed to preventing family violence, reviewing laws against sexist advertising and setting targets for female representation within the public sector.

In addition, the government continues to implement new strategies to promote women in business.

For example, the government sponsored 2018 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards a new category of Woman Manufacturer of the Year has been established.

The award seeks to not only recognise the work of women in manufacturing but to importantly encourage others to consider manufacturing as a profession or business opportunity.

I again congratulate Times News Group on this Women in Business feature.
