Women in Business: Making wine is a labour of love – Baie Wines

Small batch and hands-on: Baie Wines wouldn’t have it any other way.

Entering its 12th year as a winery on the prestigious Bellarine Peninsula, the profound success of small batch winery Baie Wines has been a labour of love for co-owner Nadine Kuc.

Nadine said that Baie Wines was born in 2008 when she and husband Simon relocated to the Bellarine to start their family and follow their hearts into agriculture and wine, where humble beginnings saw Nadine assume the role of sales and marketing manager.

“I would often visit stores and restaurants asking questions about their wine, usually with a baby and pram in tow. “Fast forward 12 years and we can hardly keep up with the demand; we often sell out in a few months after releasing a vintage.”

Nadine can generally be found doing what she loves best – working with local wine businesses, hosting pop up cellar doors at the winery and thinking of fun ways to reward and thank the people supporting their wine.

She is looking forward to the first pop up cellar door for Baie in 2018 – the Shiraz Festival on July 7-8.

Given Baie only opens their doors to the public a few times a year, this event is always a popular, fabulous weekend with great wine, food and entertainment.
