100-year-old hall set for major upgrade
ST LEONARDS residents are set for exciting community and business opportunities out of the refurbishment of the 100-year old St Leonards Hall.
Bellarine MP Alison Marchant visited St Leonards Memorial Hall on Friday last week to make the $113,000 funding announcement on behalf of the Victorian government and in place of Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney.
The upgrades will provide the St Leonards community with a rejuvenated location to host a range of community activities including dance classes, pilates and yoga, carpet bowls and pre-school and school programs.
It will also encourage new businesses to host markets and stalls, while allowing hire for weddings and parties.
The works will involve the complete refurbishment of the flooring, including the repair of sub-floor framing, bearers and joists, stumps and footings.
Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant said the hall had a longstanding history and held a special place in the community.
“I look forward to seeing the hall put to good use once works are complete.”
