MORRIS Finance is again offering a $25,000 Business Grant in 2025, in collaboration with the Geelong Chamber of Commerce.

The grant, offered for the first time in 2024, will be awarded to one local business in the Geelong Region.

“This grant is designed to support one local business with a bold vision for growth, innovation or sustainability,” an advertisement for the grant states.

“Aimed at stimulating growth, enhancing capabilities, and fostering economic development within our community, the grant provides real financial support to help local businesses take their next step forward.

“Whether you’re looking to invest in new equipment, expand your offering, upgrade technology, or build the capability of your team, this grant can help overcome financial barriers and fast-track your goals.”

The inaugural Morris Business Grant was awarded to Common Ground Project, a regenerative farm and social enterprise in Freshwater Creek.

“Since receiving the Morris Business Grant, we were able to upgrade our walk-behind tractor, repair and upgrade our irrigation, as well as train new staff members,” Common Ground Project farm manager Fraser Telfer said.

“It’s been great to improve our efficiency and productivity on the farm, (and) expand new areas of production to produce more food.”

Small businesses with between 1-50 employees who hold a registered ABN and operate within any of the Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Golden Plains or Queenscliffe municipalities are encouraged to apply.
